When I took a short trip to Amsterdam I worked on a transition effect in the promo. It is transitioning from the Google Earth shot to a shot I did of the Planet of Sound store. This is to communicate in a visual way where the installation will be located.
Some of the materials were causing issues as they weren’t seamless textures, so I fixed that.
Dynamic qr code that can be changed at any time. When the user scans the qr code we wanted him to be able to download a song but also learn more about his most used planet(music location). Unfortunately a qr code cannot display two links at the same time. It can however link to a directory from where the user has more choices to choose from.
Welp, so today I’m still working on software so that everything works until Monday.
I’ve added some random textures to planets, but Vasil has to prepare the appropriate ones and then we will change them. Only one planet will be visible while playing, and after pressing the button, the planet and the set of sounds changes. I also want to clean up the objects and scripts later, to make them more understandable not only for me.
I made Normal and bump maps for each material to add a little bit more depth and detail to each material in unity and the final projection:
To make the ring I took two big MDF boards and made another makeshift drawing compass, with a radius of 25 cm. I put the two boards next to each other forming a square 1mx1m. Using diagonals I measured and found the centre of the square and started drawing the inside hole of the ring with a diameter of 50cm. I then proceeded with the outside, making another Drawing compass with a radius of 50cm and drew a circle matching exactly the size of the two boards and fitting perfectly inside.
I then proceeded to cut the ring out of the boards with a saw. I ended up with two separate half circle pieces, that would cover the top of our installation.
Today we tested what distance and which beamer we should actually use now that we have the exact length of our installation. This proved difficult however because the beamer itself takes up space and it’s relatively close to the dome itself. The image is too small to cover the whole dome, let alone cover more than the dome.
An easy solution would be a wide angle lens beamer. But we can’t borrow one, and sure as hell can’t afford one. We will have to figure out a plan to get the image the right size, with either mirrors or a special lens in front of the beamer. Or get a different beamer through a miracle.

For this one it was harder to come up with a concept than the other locations. They do have a noticeable statue on top of the building and it’s a music school for singing and learning instruments.
Today I have been busy with the finances, updating the expenses list. We are most definitely going to go over our 100 euro budget. Which means the investment percentage of each team member will have to be measured to divide it evenly. The actual maths will have to be done once everything is bought. I also made sure the invoices reached our sponsors:
