The last feedback from our Product Owner

Today we had to present all our prototype connected together to Boris and Harry. They tested our “installation” and we got feedback from them.

Feedback:

Have dots on the pads to point where to hit
Have it possible to stop (a button)
Have buttons give feedback by lighting up when we explain them
Have a sound file that explains the looping – make better instructions
Fix the latency of the drum pads
Arduino Leonardo???
Preloading sounds
Make the buttons more understandable
Make it more clear for the user what to do

We got the green light. ✅

We have shared tasks and we will work on it!

Testing of beamer with mirror and making a mount

I brought my mirror from home so that we could extend the distance of the beamer to the dome. That worked well but the next step is to construct a mount for it. We did run into a problem where the beamer stretched the image so that the planet looks like an egg.

The DAW I’m using to sample all the sounds is Ableton Live. We ended up having the installation be in the key of D minor.

Talking about what sounds we will have

The title says it all. I mostly communicated with Thom about what kind of sounds the installation will have and how they would work. In this picture we’re selecting the drums that will be used. The plugin I’m using here is Toontrack’s Superior Drummer.

Working with the promo on the train

When I took a short trip to Amsterdam I worked on a transition effect in the promo. It is transitioning from the Google Earth shot to a shot I did of the Planet of Sound store. This is to communicate in a visual way where the installation will be located.

Meeting with Product Owner

Today we had a meeting with Boris – our product owner.
He told us that we must hurry up and that this Friday we must present the installation operating from the technical side (it doesn’t have to be the final version). Meeting on Friday is just advice on what to do next

He also checked our blog and said that we would be judged from the blog.

Soundwork on the promo video

For the promo Thom and I did a voice over recording and I used iZotope’s post production suite to remove background noise and give the voice a deeper richer sound.

Painting test dome

After @oyvindknustadgmailcom took the first paint and tested it on the small scale minuature transparrent acrylic ball I bought from Bertus Workel, we tested the new Liquid chalk paint on the big dome, however we only had a single 5ml bottle which was far from enough to cover the dome. We mixed the paint with water and poured it inside and started spreading it. we got a good coverage and left it to dry.
